The Buttonhole Soffix is an autologous hamstring support device for ACL reconstruction.

This fixation device is a load sharing rather than a load bearing structure and minimises high stress loads on graft. It uses four strands of hamstring, providing a stronger graft than 9-12mm of bone patella tendon bone.

With only 4-6cm of free four strand hamstring present in the centre of the graft, the bungee effect is reduced. On testing, the Soffix provides an immediate strong fixation in excess of 1000N and therefore, early rehabilitation is permissible.

This solution is particularly useful in the adolescent cruciate deficient knee, anterior cruciate ligament revision surgery, in patients whose occupation requires them to kneel and where bone patella tendon bone is contraindicated.
